GRYF P27 Print E-mail

ImageTwo-seat light sport aircraft, designed to be ideal for cross-country flying – with easy access and extremely wide outlook, enabling feeling wings are not divided part of pilot-aircraft complex. Designed according to Czech and Germany UL and US Light Sport Aircraft requirements.:

Still in development.

Gryf P27 is all metal mid-wing with glued and riveted aluminum alloy airframe, and cockpit safety welded cage with composite fuselage fairing.

Fuselage has a simple all-metal airframe. Central aluminum alloy tube creates the spine for all fuselage subassemblies connection:

  • welded engine mounting is riveted in the front with integral firewall
  • welded steel tubes cockpit cage is screwed by bolts between firewall and cross beam
  • square cross beam riveted from aluminum alloy sheets and profiles is riveted to spine tube rear to pilot seat back, and continues with its triangle reinforcing rear to wing trailing edge. Cross beam with wing hinges on the sides and landing gear hinges in the bottom is a strength part of the wing central part and
  • in the rear spine tube beam is supporting conventional tail surfaces hinges

ImageComposite fuselage fairing with smooth transition to the wing creates natural aerodynamic shape – although it is all metal aircraft, looks like good shaped composite (using technology of sport-cars). One-piece forward open-able canopy is supported by gas braces. Together with forward sweep mid wing it enables uncompromising visibility.

Wing leading edge is in the position of your arms, so you can feel really Like the Bird.

All metal semi-monocoque WINGS with main spar is glued and riveted by classic solid rivets and the rest by blind rivets from aluminum alloy sheets, profiles and pressed ribs.Image Wings have efficient 17% LS airfoil and classic ailerons. 60% span flaps with 15o and 30o deflection are hinged on the rear wing spar in piano hinge. Wing is possible to disconnect for longer hangaring and aircraft transport.

The same technology Tail is all metal cross-type, profile NACA 0012, 4 bolt-connected on keelson aluminum alloy fuselage tube hinges.

Elevator is equipped by with electrically controlled trim-tab. Rudder is controlled by control cables in leading plastic tubes. Tricycle type landing gear, with steerable nose wheel and composite leg of main undercarriage with 16x4” wheels.
Hydraulic disc brakes of main wheels are controlled by central lever or – for option by pedals toe brakes.

GRYF P27 development history:

After we finished first version of Skyboy development, its producer chosen from the line of GRYF studies project P11 for next development, using the same technology and a lot of the same subassemblies. Our target was to do that development and receive first prototype as a part of our reward for flying members of GRYF club. That time it was our hobby work along of our job in big aircraft industry.

ImageBut time brought financial problems of that producer, a lot of misunderstandings - and finally change of its ownership. New interplane s.r.o. owner Ralph Mandarino lost interest about that not finished project (because that time USA UL requirements limited empty weight to 227kg) and sign with us agreement about freezing of that project for next years to have time to evaluate its possibilities.

That time is out – and situation in light aircraft market and requirements were changed – so to finish project from 1995 looks crazy now. During followed years we finished US version of Skyboy, redesigned FAR23 small cargo Raven aircraft to usability , developed MD3 Rider UL and LSA aircraft for Flyitalia and actually are designing Shark aircraft for COMP-LET.

Now we would like to finish our original project of mid wing with easy access and wide outlook with using of all experiences from that developments – together with use of all positives, brought by changes of European and US requirements for light aircraft.

Because this aircraft does not have any direct order , we would like to finish that project parallel to planes we design for other companies.

We would like to finish that project as our hobby work, and in GRYF Magazine You can recognize our real progress in that - connected with free time beside of other work.

We hope, our hobby access can give to this project higher peculiarity: P27 project is not typical, but created directly for touching of our personal feelings...

So we believe Skyster can be interesting for some other human with the same illness – flying for fun.
