L-110 |
Celokovový čtyřmístný dolnoplošník se zatahovacím podvozkem. Studie navazující na zastavený vývoj letounu FAMILY AIR ing. Smrčka, poté co byl projekt FamilyAir zastaven. L-110 je ovšem prostornější ale zároveň menší. Cestovní rychlost 300 km/hod.
Four seat L-110 aircraft is classical conception all metal low-wing with retractable landing gear. One spar trapeze wing has the NACA medium speed MS 313 / MS 317 airfoil , slotted flaps and classical ailerons. Large composite horizontal wingtips give to the wing an ideal aerodynamic shape. Wings are equipped by integral 240 liter fuel tanks. Classical all metal semi-monocoque fuselage is riveted from aluminum alloy pressed or bended sheets. Classical semi-monocoque tail has symmetrical airfoils NACA and controlled elevator trim-tab. Aileron and rudder trim-tab is fixed, on the ground adjustable. Classical three wheel undercarriage is hydraulically retractable to the wing and in the closed position in all faired. Smooth shape of front fuselage part continues fluently to the large cabin fuselage part with wide glazing and great field of pilot vision and wide both sides doors, opened to the front and enabling good access to rear passenger seats. The L110 is supposed to meet FAR 23 requirements. Aircraft is standard equipped by full dual control system , for option is offered quick dismountable right control column. Flight instruments are concentrated around the left pilot, so interior of plane has a look typical in modern more expensive cars, to be from passenger feeling prepared for next millennium. Right side of instrument panel is lowered for better view of left side sitting pilot. Power unit is flat four-stroke four-valve Textron Lycoming IO-360-A 3B6D with power 149 kW (200 HP) and "constant speed" propeller Hartzell. BASIC DATA:Dimensions:

Power unit LYCOMING IO-360-A 3B6D (200 HP). After problems with law about responsibility of manufacturers (1980), single piston engine GA aircraft market in USA was going down from 10 thousand per year but it is still on number 800 to 1200 sold planes per year. At the same time sold planes are mainly machines from fifties and sixties. Long time period of its sale and simpler certification process in the past moved its prices down. Expenses for new aircraft development are too higher in the USA, so no one all new design is certificated, excluding some composite planes, certificated under the new, cheaper regulation for lighter fixed wing aircraft. BACKGROUND of L-110 STUDYIn this situation there is possible to develop top quality all metal aircraft, thanks approximately two times lower development prices in the Czech Republic, much cheaper then in the USA. It brings ideal position for starting of similar project right now. Elegant aerodynamically “clean” aircraft with focus to comfortable interior design, closed with today style of middle class cars and little better performances (speed, range, fuel efficiency) opposite to old competitors can win an interesting part of world market, to be able to sell 50 to 200 planes per year. More succesful plane has to fill all needed basic parameters, not only one from. It has to have true bigger used value and offer something more, opposite to our competitors. This project offers nice friendly look (styling) and comfortable interior design for better passengers feeling. I believe car and plane sale will be more similar in the near future. New US manufacturers are focused mainly to higher cruise speeds, which is not offered from older USA planes till now. But this choice brings higher price of this aircraft, and although market needs faster planes, not in the big scale. So we need to be focused more to cheaper classic planes with modern design and little better flying parameters, then older Cessnas, Pipers and Bonanzas. Team, which I leaded in LET in 93/94 season was working one year on the Family Air project, stopped after investor’s financial problems. That project was focused to some investor ideas, which were not the best. But we got a lot of experiences and solved design parts from that works, which we are able to use for own design. © Ing.
